A little history lesson in 1910 there were four teams in Carrick the Johnoes team,Pill road team,carrick beg team and the lanes team (the blue shirts) the former three teams formed Carraig na Suire(na dabhin) the lanes team(blue shirts) were invited to join but declined as they felt that the Carraig na Suire team were of a fianna fall ilk and the blue shirts could not stomach the republican connection.The bitterness that clouded the eyes of the people then still clouds the eyes to this very day

the first soccer team from Carrick were called Rock Rovers and played their games where Woodland Heights stands now they had worthy stalwarts such as Jimmy (sheepman) McGrath,Paddy(mighty)Mckenna R.I.P. Tom(Fowley)Foley,Francis(the hatchet)Mulvanney,Billy(callaghan)Walsh and a young pup named Michael Roche who went on to make a name for himself in the other code

Willán foley, Tanners McGrath, Michael Danagher, and Billy (Callaghan) Walsh's younger brother known as Looney Tunes. I don't know his first name! Roche's older brother John played on that also, I think!

I have a long interest in finding out a bit about the origin of the two clubs Davins and Swans. Your explanation makes sense to me.

just about carrick united being a waterford team, i think it doesnt matter if your from carrick beg or carrick on suir, tipp or waterford there all carrick men really...
