One of the best ways of improving the image of a town is to show the outside world that there is a lively sports scene in the town. The recent ESRI report on sports and social capital proved the huge contribution of GAA, in particular, and soccer, in developing the social capital and wellness of a society. Carrick has all the ingredients but we need to demonstrate a healthy attitude to sport and competition in the town. There is too much mean spirited and lousy commentary generally amongst contributors from Carrick. Think about it! We were looking for decentralisation a while ago. We are currently building up the population of the town because of cheaper housing. All very good! But new people will always check web sites to get a flavour of a town before deciding to live there. SIMPLE QUESTION! Are we doing enough to promote our town. Is the sports structure in the town good enough to attract new people to the town.

Is the sports structure in the town good enough to attract new people to the town. I think it's about fair at the moment Enemy......it isn't great but not bad at the moment. Alot of room for improvement though. It must be said that on all sport fronts in Carrick, we're fairly successful, so the foundations are there at least
